Hunky Dory Review – Melbourne – Australia

Hunky Dory is a local Fish and Burger Bar that opened in 2004 as an alternative to traditional fish-n-chip shacks.  They have a ‘healthier’ approach to take away fish and offer a range of seafood options.  I have eaten there on two separate occasions, and on both occasions I got the fish wrap.  Initially I found the thought of fish in wraps or tacos to be a bit strange and I avoided them until 2012, but now I’m a big advocate for seafood in this form – it’s delicious.

The wraps at Hunky Dory’s are a great take-away option.  They are wrapped for convenience, easy to transport and built to eat on the run or in the restaurant.  The wraps are simple – battered white fish, tomato, lettuce and tartar sauce all wrapped up in pita style bread.  I’m not sure what fish they use for the wraps, but in both cases it was mild in flavour and suited the dish well.

I can’t speak on behalf of the rest of the menu, but for a take-out joint, the wraps are fresh and tasty.  Nothing too fancy, but they definitely hit the spot.  Try one on the run, you won’t be disappointed.
